Larry Castle was born in San Francisco, May 29, 1951. His family moved to the Peninsula when he was six years old. His memories of San Francisco include his grandparents taking he and his brothers down to Playland at the Beach, to Golden Gate Park, the Aquarium, Japanese Tea Garden and the Planetarium..

His older brother, Cliff, taught Larry how to play bass when he was in 7th grade. Cliff was in a band which included Mike Shrieve (Santanta) and Lee Oscar (War). They were called Blueberry Jam. Back in those days, the local musicians were into Paul Butterfield, John Mayall, The Animals, Albert King.....and any kind of material that rocked the San Francisco Bay Area at the time. It wa the 60's, and the music environment in the Bay Area was fresh and exciting. Bands like Big Brother (Janis Joplin), Charlie Musslewhite, Elvin Bishop, Country Joe, James Cotton, Loading Zone, The Jefferson Airplane, etc...etc..etc...were on the scene.

Larry majored in music at Cal State Fuller, where he learned upright bass and played in various ensembles, including orchesta and various Jazz ensembles..

After college he studied at the Dick Grove Workship with Chuck Rainey, Ladd McIntosh and Dick Grove.

His personal studies at the time were with bassist John Williams.

He played in six bands in those days and did a lot of recording in the Hollywood area.

In moving back to the Bay Area in the 80's, Larry studied guitar with Tuck Andress (Tuck and Patti).

Today, Larry enjoyes living in Cathedral City, California. It's in the desert near Palm Springs. He is currently writing music for television and film..
